Keep trying. With that camera and that lens you can get this guy good and sharp. Beautiful bird.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Welcome to DPC. I see this is only your third entry, and I hope to see many more from you. If you have the chance to see these eagles frequently, you know you have a very special gift. Please, please take lots more pictures of these birds.

Okay, to work. First, I'm going to apologize for some of your commenters. There are people who are much more thoughtful about their remarks; you just didn't happen to get them this time.

Now: You have the two eagles and I think you were going for the pair as symmetry. I think you almost made it, but because there was so much more in the picture, a viewer would get confused and try to see other patterns. With subject matter like this, I think it's important to try to find a setting that will show them off with the dignity they deserve.

Then, Your birds are not tack-sharp and they should be, since they are the main attraction. One way to up your chances of getting sharp images is to bracket your shots, and take lots of them.

In any event, you have the chance to go out and get more pics of these birds, and for sure, I hope to see more of your work on DPC.

Greetings from the Critique Club -

Well - first I would like to welcome you to DPC. I see you havent been around long so welcome to the wonderful world of DPC.

Now to your image. Tough entry for a Free Study. There really are alot of things wrong with this image from a DPC point of view. Really bad focus, poor colors and most of all your model is facing the wrong way. :) Technically a poor image, compositionally a poor image, just not good overall. Not really sure what else to tell you here. You ahve some really interesting images in your portfolio that are much better than this. I think a different choice in entry image woudl have scored you much better.

That said - you can learn tons here at DPC. My first 4 entreis were all 4's. But there is such a wealth of information here that you cant help but learn. Read threads, read image descriptions, experiment and ask questions. Most epople here are very helpful. But most of all have fun. Dont let the low scores get you down. Keep working at your craft and improvemnts will come. I look forward to seeing your future entries. Hang in there.

Tim

I wish this shot were more crispy and clear, looks like it was cropped heavily or you used a poor lens along with a bad converter.

I kind of like your post-processing, but it would be nice if I could see more of the coyote's face. Good try though! Maybe he was walking away too fast for you to get a good shot. I also like the way he almost blends in with his surroundings.

I'm sure he's not, but a picture of his backside isn't giving him a fair chance ;)

Not really symmetrical; also kind of busy - the birds are the subject, yet both are partly obscured by electrical stuff.

The image is kinda soft. Although it does not feature true symetry, I think it would have done good if the screaming eagle had been tack sharp. Great catch light in the eye.
