New Parentsby kris9899Comment by TeeCeeJay: Great composition and use of negative space on the left. I don't know the circumstances of the shot, but if you get a chance to reshoot and control your lightingm use a smaller aperture to ensure that everybody's faces are in focus, then this will be a killer image. |

New Parentsby kris9899Comment by mpreslar: The contrast and sharpness could use work. All three look a bit washed out. It looks like a "remove color" without tweaking the contrast to make an effective B&W portrait. Pretty good composition, thought it would be nice to have more of the top of the woman's hairline and the whole baby. |

selfby kris9899Comment by FocusPoint: Nice, simple. I like the style :) Ok, things that bothered me: your background, and softness on your eyes. Background could be something better, or something far, and your eyes could be more focused and sharp. Overall is a good photo though :) I like the dark shadow framing :) |

selfby kris9899Comment by nutzito: one of favs in this challenge...excellent angle, exposure, processing, all added to natural expression. I like the texture of the wood behind and the desat.
The vigneting also works here but it could have been a bit more subtle. Congratulations and best of luck!! |

Trac Bikeby kris9899Comment by Melethia: This is a nicely composed, well lit shot that definitely meets the challenge. It's also rather small. There's a tutorial on how to size your pictures for DPC so you get the maximum size allowable:

Trac Bikeby kris9899Comment by yakatme: I'm sure that you are getting a lot of comments admonishing you for the small image size. To score your best, it is important to submit the photo at the maximum size allowable. I zoomed in 200% to get the image to a comparable size to the rest of the field. I didn't see where the focus is here (maybe because of the zoom though) which also takes it down a little. On the good side, I like your composition, shooting from the rear of the bike with the front tire turned for a profile view as a backdrop to the rest of the bike. |
