Nice topic. The photo could use improvement -- straightening to make the mantel and bricks horizontal, and a levels adjustment to bring out the life in the image. The flash lighting is not working well for this setup. It is too bright on the girl and too dim on the boy. I think some side lighting from a table lamp would help.

It's difficult to grade a photograph of someone's loved ones because you don't want to feel like you're devaluing them. That said, I know you understand this is a photo competition. I feel that you would have translated the concept of Heaven in a far better way for us viewers had you perhaps taken them outside and let them play . . . any number of things for that matter. It's a beautiful portrait however.

Cute kid, I think the softness created here may be a little over done, to me it is so blurred it loses to much detail and makes the baby fade into the background, IMHO. Good luck in the challenge.

What a cutie!!!! Really suits the "soft focus" as a subject. The only thing that I could say on this one would be that the lighting, perhaps, could be a bit better, but then again.....try getting a shot like this and the opportunities. They don't come easily, do they? No time to fuss with lighting, I'm sure. I really like this one. Tugs at my heart strings.

hmm.. I'm not a fan of the ole red eye !! :-).. I think this could have worked better for me if it was a closer crop & the stray hairs were pulled back. Maybe if the skin was painted white or something. Basic editing doesn't leave much room for anything pp.
