while timing-wise this is a nice capture, I actually find it a bit disgusting, especially the stringy looking part at the bottom

Comment by L2:
You've stopped the motion effectively. The colors are flat and the background is distracting. If the subject had been spitting up into the air you would have had a nicer arc in the spew. Really though, overall, this shot lacks visual appeal. The action of spitting is distasteful and there doesn't seem to be a good reason for it, ie. no bugs or anything in the cup.

A dramatic picture, lucky there's a void to the right ;-)

Hmmm, this is interesting... there just isn't too much appeal in this image.

I like the direction your going with this. I'm getting tired looking at coffee beans and coffee shops. If you would have taken a little more time with this, I would have given it a higher score.

Marvelous. Bad coffee? I hope not. If you were just having some fun - that's great. However, if you were trying to get the face and the liquid and the lips - that's better. Because I think you have done a top job. The image offers me a wild ammount of stories that entertain me. Congrats.

Good reaction, I know exactly how you feel. But, before you say espresso really is a horrible drink, realize that almost no one makes espresso well. Check out these sites for kicks:

Espresso's a tricky drink to get down right, and when it's not done right, it's catastrophic.

Now, to the picture, eh?

The coffee cup looks like it's awkwardly held, almost as though you folded your arm straight up, and it makes the picture a little weird. The change in background is distracting. Finally, the face looks emotionless. But the reaction is excellent and the moment is well-caught.

Not really! I find the vertical separation distracting. I wonder if an all dark background wouldn't work better. With that and a brown shirt it could be more dramatic.
