if this doesn't do well, i'm sure it will be because people don't get it...is this a religious icon of a patron saint of the poor? Also, it appears that she is over the snake. A lot of people don't believe in titles and/or don't read them, but just as many do...

Did you take this from behind some glass? There are some odd reflection type highlites in this photo that are not good. Plus, maybe it's evident to some, but for me, I don't know how this figure relates to poverty. I think in a challenge such as this, the photos that do well are the one that hit people right in the face.

Anyway about the photo:

I think the reflection from the glass is very noticeable and could be filtered out with a polarizer.

Also picking a different time of day or an overcast day to shoot to avoid the tree shadow might have been a good idea.
