Thinkingby longlivenyhcComment by UNTITLED: Wow what a great photo! I just can't believe it didn't score higher. Has it all; texture, contrast, feeling. For what my opinions worth, excellent. |

Strawberry Fieldsby longlivenyhcComment by srbrubaker: The only fruit with the seeds on the outside... It's interesting. And I like red. Yet doesn't strike me as being something special.
One of the things I think about a lot in photographing cluster-flowered roses is 'how do I frame this so I'm not starting a new story' at the edge of the frame. In photos like this, I am inclined to feel comfortable when a small part of an object of interest is cut off - as is true for the seed at the top; but to feel uncomfortable about those cut in half or those whose majority is missing. It occurs to me that the seed in the upper left is the 'star.' It is most favored by the lighting and by its coloration, size, and features. If this were just a little closer to the "rule of thirds" line I think the photo might be stronger. All of these considerations could be accomodated by judicious cropping. |
