Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Easy to critique as I really like the shot, definitely meets the challenge, a bit too much sky

Composition/ Content

The thing that really scores well on DPC is the "WOW" factor and this shot has it: the rainbow, the ice and the way the light hits the falls all contributes.

Background
I don't know whether or not you tried this in landscape vs. portrait orientation. It seems like it may have worked a bit better and you could have cropped more of the sky this way. But there may be something distracting just around the falls that you worked to keep out. Really good anyway.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus is excellent for the difference in light and shadow you have here.

Digital Processing - Technical
I noticed that your comments really pointed to removing some of the sky in this shot. I was one of them and still feel that may have been the best way to improve this. It would have taken the horizon line off center and brought the top down nearer to the interesting clouds above the falls.

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a nine. I think that it meets the challenge well and the only real improvement would have been less sky. That may have led it to finish even higher than it did but the competition was really tough this week. Great job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

Good photo - the colours are rich and the focus is nice. I'm curious as to why you chose portrait instead of landscape though. There is a bit too much sky for my taste and landscape orientation may have pushed the horizon up to about 1/3 from the top. Otherwise though the photo is nice - the foreground is particularly interesting

I guess you might have heard this before, but I would have cropped a lot of that sky out of this image because the image is simply stunning!...Good luck!

What a beautiful sight! My suggestion would be to include just a bit more of the frozen grass and a bit less of the sky. The sky currently takes up about half of the shot. I really do like where you placed the rainbow in this shot and included the whole horseshoe fall.7.

Wonderful shot! Niagara Falls is a great place when you consider that you're almost guaranteed to see a rainbow anytime the sun is out! My only nitpick would be that the shot seems to be divided a little too much into half. May have been a little stronger without as much sky.

This is a stunning photo.. the capture of the rainbow in this image makes everything work so well.. that is such an intriguing single element for this landscape... I think that landscapes need some specific element of 'intrigue' to make them really pop out and you have captured that nicely here... great shot ! = 10 - setzler

The horizon is a little too centered. Love the rainbow! Including the ice in the foreground is nice though you might have shown even more of it. Tough lighting conditions. A square crop might work as well and showcase the rainbow a little more. There's just a tad too much sky.

I know the rule of thirds, but would have rated it higher if there were less sky, the subject isn't the sky. Otherwise nice capture

I like the shot a lot, but think a lot of the sky could have been cropped out. Also believe it could use a bit more color saturation.

Nice to see a picture of the Falls that doesn't have that typical postcard composition. I thought about the Falls too, but couldn't think of a composition better than this. Bonus for the rainbow and frozen weeds. - 7
