I dont' think the negative space has been used very effectively...maybe if the lemon on the left was a bit more separated. I like the black reflective surface though.

this is almost there. I would have set up the props a little differently. the bit of shaving that is falling out of the frame is somewhat distracting and I would have pulled together all the little bits of wood chips that look like they might be dust on your sensor. I'd look up the rule of thirds as a start in aiding the composition. The exposure settings on your camera are also a bit too dark. For shots like these, if you don't have the proper lighting inside, take it outside on a nice day, usually the best light you can get.
