*** Greetings from the Critique Club ***

Hi Sean,
Congrats on your first entry, 12th (after DQ's) place isn't bad at all, it's a good shot.

Challenge
This entry fits the challenge perfectly, teken from the inside out and the window frame is a big part of the composition. Generally I am sick of pet shots, but once in a while some good ones drop in and this is one of them, it's got a good feel about it and is nicely done.

Composition
The subject is filling the frame nicely and the frame fills it completely. Two things bother me here:
1. The frame is tilting a bit, the inner lines of the window are not parallel [spelling?...] to the image frame, (could be the angle shot from or tilting camera). This could maybe be fixed in PS by rotating a tiny bit.
2. The top of the window is missing, and thus braking the nice wooden frame, would be nice to see all of it in the shot (might be too tall to include, can't tell)

Lighting
Lighting is excellent! Shooting against windows is always a challenge, but you seem to do it all right. Frame is beautifully exposed and the cat as well, except a tiny piece of fur lit by sunlight (inevitable). Background is non-distracting, dark and nice.

Camera work
You sure seem to know your gear, exp., focus, DOF and everything looks great.

Post-Processing
Post-Processing is great too, image looks "natural" (not much processed) that I think is very important for this type of shot. Cloning done very nicely, can't see any marks. Good job.

Title and Info
Can't say I understand the title, but it sounds o.k. Your info is good, all the essentials (ap/iso/shutter) and the comments explain the setting, and what was done in PS. Everything I need to know to learn from the shot. You are a good exsample on the info.

Overall (my opinion)
Nice shot, technically good and has a nice feel to it, got the challenge just right. Don't care much for cat shots, but the execution of this shot was done so nicely I almost forgot. Cheers, mate.

Hopes this helps in some way, good luck in the future.

Best regards, Tyrkinn

Nicely taken. There is a reproachful look in the cats eyes. I hope he/she got fed.

The title reminds me of the song 'how much is that doggie in the window'. The natural framing of the pane is good, although not perfectly straight, but I dont think that really matters. White subjects can be tough, and the exposure is not bad except for the hot spot near his/her right/our left ear. You still managed to get a lot of the details on the fur elsewhere, though, and that gives it a nice fluffy look. I'm assuming you desat the background also, and I think it works well to isolate the subject. I also like the rain/dirt spots on the window, it gives it more realism and atmosphere.

Absolutely gorgeous. As this is an advanced challenge, I would have used the perspective tool in Photoshop to make the window frame completely parallel to the edge of the photo. Lovely backlighting on the fur and the drops add compositional interest and texture. It's a shame that the windowframe isn't more squre so that we can see the top of it in the photo.
